AFTERMARKET ZR2 FLARES FINALLY

Recommended Posts

They look like quality and have a very reasonable price. Wish they would offer a bushwhacker style with pocket bolts since they went through all the trouble of making molds and putting them into production.

Curious though how it says it fits both the Blazer and the S10 without the ability to specify which model you have. I thought the arch size was different in the rear for Blazers and S10s.

If one of you guys buys these let us know how they work out, I personally don't think they'll work out but time will tell.  I do know that GM made some like the ZR2 uses that had a fender lip attachment instead of the tabs the Blazer uses in the rear.  The S10 uses a bracket that attaches its flare in the rear.  I'm curious why they don't show a picture of the back side of their flares.  I'm betting this is why.  I'd also like to see their installation instructions for the product.

Someone over on Blazerforum bought a set of the 4dr flares. He posted pictures over there. They don't mold any kind of mounting solution into the flares at all.

How'd did that fella attach them, did he use rivets or?  You could get 4 flares from a yard for less than that and you'd still have to find a way to mount them.

He decided not to use them. And yes but factory ZR2 flares have provisions on the flares to mount to the fender. The Jungle flares had literally no way to mount. Just a shell.

Do they have a lip on the outside for 3m tape? If so you could use that and use self tappers on the inside of the fender on the lip. Or also use push clips. That's how a lot of the factory full size flares were mounted.

I just bought a set of these Jungle Fender Flares, I'll be putting them on in a week or so. I'll let you know how it goes. They don't have any fastener type tabs or any holes drilled like a factory one, but they do look good. So, we'll see.

If you could, please take some pictures of the backside of the flare so we can see exactly what there is to work with

Here are a couple pictures of the flares. You'll definitely need to make some tabs and attach them to the flares, and probably do a little trimming also. The rear ones have about a 3/4" space from the stock position all around on the bottom and sides where you would attach them to the fender. The front ones look like they are a little of a closer fit. I found a flare for the broken one I have so I might be passing these on. But if your good at doing these kind of things, these could work for you, they do look pretty decent. My abilities are limited though. They look like they were molded off of originals. The back sides are just an unsanded fiberglass finish. Hope this gives you an idea of how they are. The 2 picture's of the flare on my truck are it just sitting on top of the existing flare with 31/10.5 tires. They do follow the body lines pretty good, however they aren't a bolt on flare. It will take some fabbing.IMAG1199.thumb.jpg.b57d4db6728cb692083740ff31d33b3f.jpg

I have a pair of 4, and yes you are correct. They will need provisions for mounting, they're just a shell.

I assume the wheel openings are not any larger?

They look the same but the rear ones are probably an inch or so smaller on the inside, they are about an inch larger so they hang down towards the tire side and the whole circumference of the wheel well making it a little smaller. I have 31/10.5 tires and there's lots of room.

Interested to see how they turn out!

Well, I didn't put them on yet. I found a left rear one with decent plastic, so I'm going to try and put my metal mounting ring on it. If that works OK then I'll probably be passing these on to some one. They do need provisions for mounting though, they're just the shell. See picture...

I didn't put them on yet, I did find a left rear. That's all I needed, waiting on shipping now. But here's are a few pictures of them. The pic of the one on my truck is it just sitting over the original.
