My truck's fuel gauge has been on the fritz since i first got it. No big deal. There's 44 miles on the gas that is in there and at 15 miles per gallon, I have at least 12 gallons in there. So there is fuel.

The problem occurred tonight when I was at the fire station, I had it parked and when I tried to start it, it started as if it was trying to turn over. The lights worked, the belt spun, the electric fan spun, but nothing. I'm not 100% sure if this is a Fuel Pump issue. Truck is a 2001 GMC Zr2 Sonoma. 144K miles on it, and I am 2 days away from bringing it in for an oil change (dumb truck). Any thoughts?

Also, there was no smell of gas as so I was not flooding it even though it should have been, which is making me and my dad think its the fuel pump.

Help would be appreciated

Edit: Also, it ran fine all day today and has never had this problem before.

Drop some gas down the intake, or a quick squirt of starting fluid. Confirm it's not a spark issue first.

Do a fuel pressure test, it's probably your pump.

Weird thing was that this morning, It started up right away. And drove perfectly normal. So I'm assuming this is the beginning of the fuel pump going on it though.
