Hey guys, im new here and id like to say hi to everyone with there badass zr2's anyways... im sorta having an issue here trying to pop my left axle out of my 00 zr2... i have a new axle for it and i was prying on it a good bit for an hour and no luck... it got dark and i didnt think i should have had a day 2 of anything since clearly the axle won the fight for the day. Anyone have an issue trying to get theres out?

You do have it out of the wheel bearing, the shock out of the way, and the upper BJ separated from the knuckle right?

You don't need to take the shock out. Just take the upper ball joint out of the knuckles. I always use a piece of wood and a bfh(big fucking hammer). It takes a Lil bit, but that's about all the advice I can give.

You don't need to take the shock out.

You need to remove it at the bottom.

Quick update guys, i did figure the trick of getting it out and the best way is a chisel and being directly under it. Long story short i managed to put everything back together right and after my test run i was dissapointed to find out advanced auto parts newbie gave me the wrong axle so i had to do everything again... i managed to master it in 2 hours the next try. I surely learned alot. I also replaced the left seal as well and the fluid that was in it looked like puke green and pretty low. i filled it up with lucas 80/90 weight and no problems at all.

No I don't.

Probably wouldn't have to beat on them like a fool if you moved the bottom of the shock out.

I had Napa order the wrong ones 3 times in a f'n row. They looked identical, but the splines where different. I have no clue what they were supposed to go to... I've had this bitch apart so many times I know all the wrenches/sockets off the top of my head lol.gif The last time I replaced both sides, it took me exactly 1hr 35min from the time I slid the jack underneath it til the time I dropped it back onto the wheels.

I've swapped mine out probably 5 times with no trouble at all and never taken the shock out. I'm not sure I follow why you take it loose? idunno.gif For some reason I can't picture the shock mounts in my head... My coffee hasn't kicked in yet. lol.gif

Blackhighrider, i know what you exactly mean. took me about 2 hours to get it all apart and together and no all i did was take the top ball joint nut off and slowly drop the control arm and it gave me enough room... The issue i had is everyone pretty much told me to pry them out so i spent hours prying instead of beating it out with a hammer directly under it... took 5 minutes with a chisel. lol like your saying on your post says My ZR2 isn't getting older. It's getting newer... part by part.... It couldnt get any true then that

Guess I'm lucky, mine always pop right out. I just take a couple of large chisels and tap em in there.
