Since i purchased my z my floor vents and my defrost vents do not work only my dash at your face vents work. when i drive there is always air coming thru them with the ac system off. If it is cold outside and i turn on the fan (because my ac does not work yet) the air will be outside temperature. If switch to defrost mode i can hear the air and feel it coming out less of the dash vent but still not coming out of the top. I have checked my vacuum lines behind the dash, i have checked the actuators operated by them they all move, I have removed the vacuum lines and have good vacuum going to them. The lines under the hood look old but there are no leaks my 4wd works perfect i push and it is on. There is no fluid in the lines, granted i have not gone underneath to look the tcase switch but i figure since none of the other lines have any and my 4wd works like it should there is no need to go down there. There is no hissing at all by the way, and i have searched chances seem to be that it is a broken door inside the box what is it called and where can i get it.

any other suggestions as to what my problem can be please chime in. Im leaving for boot camp beginning of june trying to get it functioning normal so my mom or sister can use it with everything functioning.

also with the fan on or off if i move the temperature knob the air does get hotter i don not know if that helps but just posting up every bit of information i know .

There is a vacuum line you can plug that may help. Mine does this too but I can't figure out the problem

Check the vacuum reservoir, it's under the passenger side fender (usually just a loose hose, Duckface has pics where to look), or it could be a ball attached to the underside of the hood IIRC on older Z"s.

It's in the drivers side fender, if it's loose you will hear a hiss noise. Check your lines on the fender side of the brake booster as well, there are splices there that sometimes come unplugged. If they crack and fall apart, get new ones at Advance or Auto Zone. I think its 5/32 hose.
