What exactly do you expect to accomplish by putting a Dana 30 in there? Especially with a LS1?

I'm REALLY undecided about the exact plan.. I'm not going any bigger than probably 33's MAYBE 35's. It'll be probably 95% mall crawler and just a fun little toy - The heep is for real offroading. The only reason I'm thinking the jk axke is because its close enough to the stock width that I could throw spacer/adapters on the rear, and rock JK lug pattern... I have a set of clayton long arms for a jeep that make setting the front up nice and easy which is why I'm looking at tj/jk stuff.. BUT.. I have some ford 3/4 tons that are set up for an XJ.. I'm just thinking 3/4 tons may be overkill for a mall crawler on 33's

EDIT: Also, I don't know when, if at all, the LS swap will ever happen, so my thoughts are toss a jk 30 in there now, and if I ever do get an LS to put in it, worry about any breakage it may/may not cause when that day comes

You'll break the 30 long before the LSx, if it ever leaves pavement. I'll put money on it.

I highly doubt it'll ever leave pavement.. maybe put into 4wd for snow, or to get over a serious curb at the mall, haha

Use a JK 44 then. The turd 30 is weaker than the ifs you'll be cutting off.

Why do you want a solid axle for a vehicle that will never leave pavement? Lot of work for absolutely 0 gain.
