*SOLD*

Hey guys, I'm selling my S10 mud truck. I have never driven it. it starts right up and moves, but is not street legal. The stock computer is out of it, so there are no head/tail lights. Also, open headers on a 350 is way too loud for the road. The major issue is the steering gearbox bolts broke. There is no damage to the frame or gearbox, but it is only temporarily bolted back up to show it works. Lastly, there are no shocks, just the leafs. This is a 1997 Chevy S10 ZR2 trail rig with a custom lift sitting on 36.5" tires. The lift would easily allow for 44" tires with maybe slight fender trimming. Both solid axles and the suspension are out of a K5 Blazer. The S10 has a 350 engine, 350 Turbo Transmission and a NP208 Transfer case (from what I was told). No clue on the gear ratios or if there are lockers. Other goodies include an aluminum fuel cell in the back and a B&M ratchet shifter on the floor. The interior is all there with the exception of the carpet which has been painted black. This will need to be towed. When I first got this truck, it was going to be my mud bog toy, but I do not have any time on the weekends anymore. This is a sweet truck with a TON of modifications!

I'm curious as to what you guys think it's worth and what I can get out of it? I currently have it for trade on craigslist and have gotten multiple offers, but nothing I really want. What kind of cash can I get out of it? I want a truck i could DD if I wanted to. I would love to trade for a stock s10 ZR2, Dakota or a Wrangler.

Need LOTS of pics of the suspension/steering systems to give you a real idea. Value varies greatly on whether it's done by a world-class welder, or a redneck with a torch.

You're going to take a loss on it - there's simply not a demand for pre-built rigs. Don't expect to sell it fast, unless you find a local redneck who thinks it's the coolest thing since sliced bacon.

To give you an idea, the SFA rig listed in my signature sat on the market before two years before I scooped it up, and he took a MAJOR hit on what he had in it vs. what I gave him for it. It's built by Chris Knaffle (cknaffle on the site), who is a renowned welder in this community. It's also complete, I can drive it as it is, just needs a few touches to get it where I want it. It also has VERY few miles on it since the swap.

Not knowing any details on the age / condition / build specs of the engine, trans, transfer case, axles, I would assume they were taken out of a junkyard truck and and are all in need of a full rebuild. Hell, the axle gear ratios might not even match. Is there a front driveshaft and does 4x4 work? Tires are pretty much bald. No idea what is under there for fab work. Body is rotting. And of course, it still needs a lot of work.

That truck is worth about $1500 - $2000 if you're lucky. Sorry, just being honest. If you can find somebody to give you that for it, you're doing well, IMO.

It was pretty much done by a redneck with a torch, not by a world-class welder such as Chris Knaffle. I'm not sure what kind of deal you got on your SFA s10, but I'm sure it's priceless being it was put together by Chris. I've seen his work on here!

I'm sure you're right. Everything is most likely out of a junk yard. Either that, or my second guess is that the guy had a K5 that he took EVERYTHING out of. Not sure. As for the 4x4, it does work. The body is rotting on the passenger side a little, but it's not horrible yet. Don't worry about insulting me with the price. $2000 is what I was hoping to get out of it, so you actually didn't insult me at all lol.

Now I just need to find a redneck that thinks it's the coolest thing since sliced bacon biggrin.gif

I don't know how big of a hurry you're in to sell it, but pop it on craigslist and try to get some $$ out of it. Stupid high school kids will pay loads of money for something with big tires, regardless of what kind of POS it is. Try listing it at 4,000 or so... give it a couple weeks. You can always drop the price. I highly doubt you'll find a buyer off of this site.

Yea, I could give it a shot. I'm not in a hurry. It's more or less taking up space in my back yard more than I need the money. I doubt anyone on here would buy it either lol. I got a really good deal on it before the winter hit and I planned on fixing everything, but I just simply don't have the time I thought I did. (I didn't have a gf when I bought it lol.gif )

Try greatlakes4x4, lots of guys on there. I think there's also an ih8mud forum or something like that. Get it out there for the mud lovers to see, for that kind of coin, somebody will pick it up. Also, if you can put it out where people will see it (beside a busy road), that would help. There are places around here that charge you $5 a day to park your vehicle in their roadsite lot. Good luck, and glad you are being realistic about what its worth! A fair price will ensure a fast sale.

Just throwing this out there. GL4x4 will pick this apart and they don't moderate their for sale section. They also hate mud trucks.

I would list it for views but grow thick skin. lol.gif

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I can't really park it by a big road. You don't need a key to start it. (push button start) and no kill switch. But to my disadvantage, I live in Redford, MI so there is nobody with land around me. Being that this truck is not road worthy, it makes it harder to sell. I'm just waiting for the right person. I actually had a guy come up from Monroe with a 4x4 Dakota, but it was all beat to shit. You could tell it was this kid's beater trail truck that he uses to ram trees down and whatever else. Sure i could drive it on the road, but it wasn't worth anything to me.

Thanks for this info as well! It's weird that a 4x4 forum hates mud trucks..

My ad keeps getting deleted off Craigslist. I have been pretty busy the past few months so I haven't been able to sell the truck yet. I'm going to try the forums listed in this ad, but figured I'd also try here again.

Again, this was built by a "redneck with a welder", but might be of use to someone on here. I have it on craigslist for $2300OBO, but selling on here for $2,000OBO. I'm not completely firm. Must be local pick up with a trailer, or arrange for a tow truck (fees would be on you).

Haha that's ok, none taken. I just want this gone before snow falls. It's sat in the same spot since I got it. I just have no time for it.
