I'm looking into getting some stock size tires and would like some opinions from you fine folks on these two models. Which is better for a stock ride height and a lot of street driving with limited off-road use? Does anyone run a set of these? What did you pay for them?

BFG All-Terrain

Goodyear Wrangler Authority (I believe this is a Wal-Mart specific tire)

I'd go with Dick Cepek FCII's.

I have not run them personally, but I believe they are my next tire. I read great reviews on them, and seem to be a great tire.

Fuck BGF AT's.

If it HAS to be one of the two I would go with authority's. But I would look into the Goodyear duratrac since I think they are comparable in price and alot better tire.

What makes you say they are a lot better tire than the Authority's? Just curious...

Keviness....why do you say forget the BFG's? Bad experience with them?

My next tires will be Goodyear Duratracs. They're the #1 tire in their class on TireRack, and I have yet to read a negative review. Great performance on snow & ice, as well as wet roads. People rant & rave about performance on mud, sand, and rocks as well. Apparently they wear pretty evenly, as well.

I'm looking at the Duratracs based off of N20_ZR2's recommendation. They have a pretty aggressive look and very good reviews. I need a little something more than what I have on the Z now. The tires came with the truck and had approximately 300 miles on them so there was no need to get rid of them, but they look ridiculous and I want a change.

They have better reviews and they are not a cheap walmart only tire. Some of the guys with heavier fullsize trucks have had the tread chunking, probably not something that trucks our size would have too worry about but the duratracs don't do it at all as far as I've heard.

Nice...haha! They definitely are pricey. Those Dick Cepek's are too expensive for my blood.

I've been running Duratracs since Jan. and i love them. Great in the snow/ice/mud/rain, not too noisey on pavement, wear is pretty reasonable as well. They are close to but better than M/T's for tread and for the price, Duratracs > BFG.

Awesome! I appreciate your testimony. I think I'll be getting those since noone has yet to say anything negative about them. Now on to finding them around here.....

Walmart can order them in, they quoted me $175/tire. i'm going to see if they'll price match the tire rack for me when i pull the trigger.

I looked online and Walmart doesn't seem to show this tire in the 31 x 10.5 on there website, tirerack does. Do they have to special order it?

Another vote for the Duratracs, I've had mine since August and they have yet to disappoint me.

I have 20,000 miles on my Authorities and I think they are great. Haven't had an issue yet. I paid for the free rotation and balance; the tires are wearing very even should last at least 40-45,000(I do mostly highway driving back and forth from school) However, I did lose about 2 miles to the gallon when I got them.

I noticed ~1 mpg loss, but the tires that were on it were smaller than 31s.

Yes, the lady at my Walmart had never heard of them... took her about 10 minutes to track them down in her book. She said you can order them online, have them shipped to the store that will install them.

Duratracs ftw. I've put over 20,000 hard miles on them and they are holding up like a champ. They have suprised me with their performance in jsut about every condition, they are extremely impressive in the snow. Street and offroad manners are excellent, took very little wieght to balance, and look great. Really can't say enough about them.
