I just noticed that it says on the inside of the door that the payload of the ZR2 is 750 lbs! Am I going crazy, because I KNOW I've had more weight in it than that! Can someone explain?

I've had close to 1500lbs in the back of my truck. a complete 350, with a 4L80E. That's the heaviest i've had in it. The load rating is a "safe" limit not actual ability.

The door jam on mine says 1000, however it was a construction truck before I had it so I think they may have ordered it with beefed up rear suspension, as there are 7 Leafs back there. I have nearly 4,000lbs of bricks in the bed of my truck, I wouldnt recommend going very far wit hit, but, it went around the corner to drop them off no problem

yeah I have had way more than 750 in mine too. MY family re did our front walk this last spring and we took the old bricks up north. I regularly took at least 1000lbs in my truck. The weighed 6lbs each so all i had to do was count bricks to figure out the weight. I think I had 230 bricks in their just to finish them off back in August so thats 1380 lbs I guess. I never took the highway when hauling those big loads because it sagged kinda bad, my truck still has about an inch to inch and a half rake so yeah that was a lotta weight to make it sag. I haul wood a lot with my Z so I'm sure my springs aint the best at 100K miles. but yes they can carry more than 750lbs smile.gif

These trucks are heavy to begin with, boxed frame, etc. They are rated 5000 GVWR - actual weight = shitty 725 ish hauling capacity.

My Z weighs about 4400 stockish. My 91 ext cab Sonoma 4x4 had a 5150 GVWR but it only weighed about 3800 - 3900 and and had a 1325 capacity rating (Z85 HD factory option).

I didn't know that they're that low. My blazer weights in 5,000 even so I can't carry any payload?? Lol

I'd think the Blazer would have a higher GVWR than the pickup, or I'd hope so at least! The sticker in the door area should say. Regardless, we already know your Blazer can tow more than it is rated for just fine! lol.gif

After I got my dodge, I'll likely never use the blazer to tow! It's unbelievable on what I went through to pull heavy loads with the blazer once I went to diesel, it's way more comfortable towing. But the blazer can if have to though.

And yes I think it should have a little more than 5,000 gvwr anyway, I was joking a bit. My dad have the blazer at the time.

Nope, a blazer, especially the two doors, have a much shorter wheel base and not much more weight.

Before My '03 ZR2 I had an '89 S10 Ext Cab 4x4.

As I recall it had both the RPO's for Off Road and HD Suspension... It had a 6,000 GVW the same as a friend's full size Silverado.
The truck had a very rough ride and 1,000 lbs. in the bed wouldn't make it squat a bit but ride great.
On one occasion I had probably about 2,500 to 3,000lbs of broken up concrete patio in it. It was definitely squatting a few inches.

The regular S10 pickup has a much flatter profile to the leaf springs than the ZR2 springs.
I believe the ZR2 springs to have a much lighter rate than a standard S10 but they have MUCH more travel for playing in the rough.

After having owned the old S10 for a few years and then getting the ZR2... Well, the ride of the ZR2 feels like a Mercedes in comparison, of course it sits much higher but the springs are much softer.

That might be just what I was looking for. My drivers side leaf is starting to sag ever so slightly, and when I started looking around to replace them I realized I have 6 leafs under each side not the usual 4, so I wonder if the previous owner had installed these...
