Hey Mitch just wanted to let you know that I bought a set of aluminum skids recently. So count me out for your HD front skid. Good luck man.

I'm interested in this skidplate but not sure if i can purchase it this summer .

Also does the plate fit a 2001 GMC sonoma ZR2 ? just want to ensure the brackets match up as i tried snagging a piece off a blazer in a junkyard which looked like a ZR2 and had a sticker on it lol and it didnt fit.

Okay, sorry I haven't updated this yet. I've been extremely busy with work. I've been welding guard rail for the last 2 weeks in my evenings building a cattle lot for a neighbor. Two of us have hung about 300 10' pieces of guard rail onto I beams lol.gif All stick welding too lol.gif

So far we only have like 5 people for this. So I at least need two more people to get this done. Any less than that and I am losing money on my time.

Okay guys, this is going to have to wait until either winter break or next summer due to lack of people interested. I'm moving out to school August 1st so I'm afraid I won't have time to make a batch of these. I really would like to make these, but I have to have more interest than 6 people for me to make them.

I will make a copy of the winch mount once I get it though. Then I can design a plate to work with it based on my copy.

Sorry guys

Would you still make them if I wanted one too? That would make 7 people. My stock one is in rough shape right now.

Looks like I'm a bit late, but if you make one the will work with the hidden winch mount WITHOUT ME CUTTING STUFF, then I'm in.

Sorry guys, but I really don't have time left this summer to get these things made. I will definitely, 100%, for sure have a model that will bolt on with a winch mount and a model for no winch mount for sale in the 100-150 dollar range, first thing summer 2011.

Thanks!

Just to update everyone on this, I have a winch mount in my possession and I'm working out details with the skid when I get a chance. My plan right now is to be able to make ONE style of skid that is designed to work with a winch, but then I'll include a set of spacers to make it work without a winch.

Thanks again to JW for making this happen! You guys owe him a thanks!

Yea, next time I'm home I'm bringing the mount back with me to school. I'm gonna have the local Ames shop trace out the base plate for me so I have the dimensions to test fit against. I'd do it myself if I had time, but it is cheaper for me to drop it off and they can plasma it out in half the time it would take me cut it with the oxy torch and grind it smooth.

Sounds like a plan. Let me know when you get around to actually modifying your skid design - I'd love to test fit with the mount, and hopefully a winch by then.

thumup.gif You will be my test sample recipient. I'll get you a discounted price when the time comes around, as long as you give it a good suitable test lol.gif

Oh, and like my hitch clevises, these skid plates will have a limited warranty. You break it under "normal" circumstances and I replace or fix it for the cost of shipping both ways. If you dent up a skid, send it to me and I'll put it in the press and straighten it back out. If you put a hole through it, I'm not gonna fix it for free, but we can talk about some options. That means you probably hit something you shouldn't have going at a speed you shouldn't have been going lol.gif But I'll make you a new one for a slightly reduced cost or if you don't care about the looks, I can weld it up/patch as necessary.

I can arrange that. Put me down for a clevis too, when you get around to welding again. I could weld up my own, but you seem to have your process pretty well worked out.

I'm a beast at those clevises lol.gif I hate my suppliers though. Midland Forge closed down so I had to switch brands so my clevises are a little more pricey and I switched bolts since the ones I were buying were kinda sloppy in the threads (when I welded the nut they would tweak just enough to make them a bitch to screw in) so now I buy them at Ace. Fuckin $8/bolt, but they turn with ease. I really don't make anything at all on those, but I couldn't see charging anymore for them since the warn is a little cheaper. Oh well, they are really easy to make so it isn't that big of a deal to me. I need to work out some kinks on my front end kit so I can get those out there. I need to talk to Rog about making a donation to get a vendor section..

Let me know when you get back on making the front skid plates. Wouldnt mind one of those someday. And if you get a front end kit i might put some on if I get rid of my front bar. So far the back one works amazing and looks sick.

I know they're beefy, so I'm more than happy to pay a premium. Name your price... I work for tips, so ihave no problem returning the favor for others.
