I'm not really all that worried about this, I just want to know what it is. When I turn my key to the on position but I don't start my truck I can hear a buzzing sound.
It goes away after a few seconds and it kind of reminds me of a diesel warming its glow plugs up.
Im not sure if it's a heating option I have on my truck, Maybe a coolant heater. Not really sure but maybe you guys know.
Thanks.

Not a ask Mike question, however you are fairly new.
The buzzing sound is your fuel pump, test it by removing the fuse under hood and see if you hear it when you turn the key to the on position. If you can still hear it, i have no idea what it could be.

x4. Be worried when you don't hear it.
edit: and it's a good idea to wait until it stops to start the truck

it will get worse, scream, howl and generally worry the hell out of you. If you have the cash, buy one now and keep it in the truck. you'll need it eventually.
It can scream like a smashed cat and still work for 80k more miles.

The fuel pump will run for 2 sec after you turn the key on. If the ECM doesnt get a signal that the motor is cranking it will turn off the pump.
I just replaced a pump in a 94 Camaro. Bought it at OReilly Auto Parts. It was an Airtec brand. It was faulty.
Now I have to replace it again. I was talking to a local shop owner who says get the Delphi pump. Its more money, but better in the long run.

I never heard that phrase until I got this truck. I think I've heard it about a hundred times now....

This happens to mine as well i just bought mine in Feb of this year, but the sound is pretty constant when i'm driving it's the fuel pump if you get out and go near the tank you can clearly hear it.
