I have a chance to buy new/used bucket seats from a 2002 ext cab s10, will they bolt right up in my 1996 ext cab s10?

I'm pretty sure the only thing they changed was the seat, not the mount. You should be good

i went from 2000 seats to 1997 seats and had to drill two holes and get different bolts for them. this was in a blazer.

You may have to drill 1 hole out, but the important ones will work. Buy them!

Update.....I purchased them and they do not fit. The problem is the distance between center lines of the bolt holes on the new seats. The foot that bolts to the floor is in a different position on three of the legs. It is just too different to work without modifications. So, what I did is grind off the big rivets holding the foot rail to the slide mechanism on each side of my old seats. Then using a cut off wheel I removed the feet on the new seats and ground the remaining edge flat. I them MIG welded the old foot assy to the new seats. I masked and painted the rails and they look unmodified. I believe this worked well because I did not attempt to swap the slide mechanisms. They too are pretty different and removing them would have made it much harder to bond old legs to the new seat.

That's weird it didn't work. I put 2002 model seats in my 1994 years ago and they bolted right in except one bolt, which was off by about 2". I just drilled one hole in the floor and was done.

At least you got it all figured out!

I would of thought it should work too. I don't see a difference between years with the naked eye but GM rearranged the studs coming up from the floor. One note, the newer seats have the female side of the seat belt mechanism embedded into the body of the seat. The 96 had them bolted to the floor. Obviously that had to come out first. In the end, they sure look nice and feel even better than the old beat down originals.

And while the bolts are not screwing you over, take them back out and coat the hell out of them with antiseize. Mine came out like butter, but some of the ugliest language on this site came about becasue of seat bolts.
