Hey all, just bought a poorly cared for 1996 S10 ZR2 truck. This little truck is getting a second life on my dime. My question is in regards to the suspension and steering parts. I plan to replace the Pitman arm, sway bar bushings, tie rod parts, upper and lower ball joints, shocks, brake calipers, pads etc.
Not all part sources indicate wether or not the replacement part is for a ZR2 or base model only. Is there or are there ZR2 only parts up front I need to be careful about ordering accordingly?

Out of all you listed only ZR2 part is the shocks. Everything else is normal 4x4 junk.
Currently the best front end parts are
power performance
napa preminum(blue boots)
and MOOG
synergy offroad is a good site to start, its ran by our very own JIGG (Justin)

Whatever you may replace them with, grease early and often.

Replacing the pitman arm too? That's not something that would usually go bad.

I think he meant idler arm.... If your steering's sloppy, you may want to look into the Flaming River U-Joint (it's a stickied topic in suspension/steering).

I think outer tie-rod end is ZR2 specific. Atleast Moog is.

Thanks everyone for the help. The pitman arm was a suggestion from a shop I got a quote from. Perhaps they were trying to fill their pockets with my cash, who knows. The work is going to be done by me but before buying the truck I had an "expert"........ look at it and he gave me the short list of items to look at. The suspension/steering system is the worst part of the whole truck.

Synergy Offroad (as stated above) has an entire front end rebuild kit from Power Performance. This way you can get everything you need in one place.
