Long story short - having trouble w/ my truck was told ecu / ecm / pcm (what ever you wish to call it) is going bad.
my truck is a 2000 4.3 Auto 4x4 zr2 I found a ecu from a 4.3 auto 2WD for pretty much free ... will it work on my truck after i have it flashed?
i have the ecu and am ready to go to the shop as soon as I get a answer of yes it will OR i will start looking for another ecu if the answer is NO it wont.
Thank you so much for your time.

D-whats bad on it..its just programed memory...I think the plugs are different on the 4x2 verse 4x4..but if its free..why not give it a shot

because once i plug in a new ecu my truck is disabled till its flashed.
I called a chevy dealer and gave them my trucks vin # then the part # off of the ecu i picked up and it wasnt compatible but they gave me a list of ecu codes that would match up with my truck so i had to go to St. Augustine to pick up a second ecu so now i have 3 including the one that came in the truck.
its the stalling issue i took the truck back to the shop i 1st took it too they said ecu is going bad and i talked w/ a gm mechanic who said it could be a bad ecu from what i was telling him but i did not have the truck there for him to mess with.
truck is sitting at a chevy dealer waiting for the newer ecu to be flashed to it and that SHOULD i HOPE and PRAY fix my problem.

oh another way the gm mechanic was kinda thinking it could be a ecu is that when i turn my truck on my cluster gauges dont light up or move for a couple - 3 seconds then my tach dont move smooth it jerks and jumps. also my service engine soon light some times comes one when i first start the truck and some times dont

idk this is the same shop that i took it to for the same problem stalling and they kept my truck over the weekend and told me they fixed it that it was a vacuum leak then im driving it the day after i picked it up and it does the same thing so i take it back and they pluged up a computer to it and said oh its your ecu. SO i wont be surprised if its NOT fixed once i put this newer ecu in the truck.
