My question/situation is this Mr. Mike,
My crankshaft in my '98 Highrider just broke at the front journal and with the truck having 200k+ miles on it I want to keep it but put a new GM Crate 4.3 in it.
The problem is that no one says they have a new engine, they just have rebuilt ones, except for one website, http://www.crateenginedepot.com.
They have a new 4.3 but the guy said it won't fit my truck, it's for a 1500 series work truck. What is the difference in the long blocks??? Can I make it work in my Highrider?

Regards,

Phillip

If they are the same year it shouldn't be a problem. You need to find out exactly what that 4.3 for to see if they interchange.

I don't see why that wont work. You probably have to swap oil pans.

You can do the swap with no problem. I put a 03 silverado in a 99 jimmy and just changed a few outside pieces plus the oil pan and pickup, drilled and rethreaded the knock sensor for the 99. the 03 sensor is smaller and the 99 was larger. It works fine

Check out the rebuilt by GM stuff. Three year, 100,000 mile warranty. They will warranty the labor too if a dealer installs it.

You don't want that crap. They are rebuilt in Mexico, and are complete junk. stupid ass mexicans can't reman a damn starter correctly much less a damn engine. How the hell do you miss a starter drive gear with 4 broken teeth if you supposedly took it apart completely and rebuilt it?
