The only other way I can think of is to disconnect the vacuum hose from the booster and see how the brakes work without it.

Curious if this could be the ABS pump. Any idea how how it is bled ? I was told it needed a Tech 2 unit to bleed it but I'm not sure and looking for confirmation.

Or any info on how to check it is bad would also be great.

Most likely you need the TII. Only other thing I could think of that *might* bleed out any air from the ABS module would be to make the ABS kick on and start working the solenoids.

I learned I do need a TechII to bleed the ABS pump. I am getting another ABS pump and computer for $50 compared to a junkyard wanting $100 for just the pump.

I seriously think the ABS pump is bad. I read a bunch saying that one of the ways they go bad is they internally bypass causing fluid to seep out of the bleeder screw even when it is shut tight which it seem to be doing. I can't see a puddle or anything but I cleaned it and it now has grime building up only on the bottom of the bleeder again.

Now my conundrum is I never had anyone with a vast amount of knowledge tell me whether or not a bad ABS pump would cause pedal softness.

Well , I'm going to pick up a functioning ABS pump/computer in the morning and probably a working booster.

I think the boosted will be less work to replace so I'm going to do it first and see if it solves the problem if not I will try the ABS pump.

In the process of removing the brake booster now. I am stuck , how do I get the clip off the stud that holds the brake pedal to the booster ?

Got it !

Lift the tab and slide it towards the hole.

I got it thanks. I realized it needed to be bent right after posting this. Now I'm slowly getting the 4 bolts out.

Thanks.

I got a little bit done. I got the MC off , abs unit free and the bottom 2 bolts off the booster but I'm having trouble with the top 2 bolts.

Thanks.

I got 3 of the 4 nuts off but the last one , upper right (passenger) is giving me fits. Any advice as to how to get at it would be greatly appreciated.

Did you take the knee bolster plastic off? Also behing that there is a larg U shroud that covers the steering collom, its held on with 4 13mm and that might get you a better angle?

I have all of that off , along with steering column dropped and even took the dash off. But it is trapped between the steering column and another bracket.

I really don't want to remover the steering column since it looks like quite the job.

Damn then IDK? Sounds like a pain.

I have not even looked at a newer one, But I did a 92ish and it took me maybe 1/2 hour total.

It was a complete PITA. KI finally got the last nut off with a 15mm flex head wrench. It is all back together now and the brakes seem to be back to spec but I only drove it up and down my road. I am going to go drive it around here soon and pray that it stays fixed.

Seriously. frown.gif

Still not fixed. I'm out of idea's.

Could I have possibly over looked something ?

The pads are good , there are no leaks , I checked for leaks plus the MC has never went down at all , the lines have been bled numerous times , the booster is new , the MC is new , the MC was properly bench bled , the parking brake is fine , the ABS works , the ABS pump is not leaking like I thought and now I'm just frustrated.

It stops decent , but as soon as it is at a complete stop the pedal gets softer then I can push it down and trigger the warning/parking brake light.

Well I'm going to go cry in a corner now.
