pre cat resonator removal question

Ok guys. i was wondering if i removed my pre cat resonator if that would help out in power? has anyody done this before? I used the search function and only found 1 thing about it. i was just curious. I would like to get a lil more "umph" out of my Z before i take it to Carlisle, PA for the all truck nationals. Thanks for the help guys. Ill take any advise.

Does nothing for the most part, some did not even come with one.

You'd be hard pressed to notice a difference, if yours is in good shape. I took mine out as a troubleshooting measure for a driveability problem I was having... no difference. Put it back in, no difference.

You won't notice anything. I wouldn't mess with it unless you are replacing everything, or it goes bad.

Some people remove it for a different exhaust tone, some HAD to remove it because it was causing overheating issues, if you have neither of those issues or concerns; I would not mess with it.

BTW: from what i understand from 2001.5 and on, they where standard.
