Look's like an awesome time guy's. Hopefully next year, we can set a date and I can request it off from work. This year it just wasn't going to work for me.
Glad to see everyone had a good time and had beautiful weather. |

cant see the pics here at work, but sounds like you guys had a blast up there! Its dissappointing that I never made it up there when I was still living in Indiana.....maybe someday my rig will be back in that area.
agreed that this group of guys is a blast to hang out with, even if you have never met any of them before. Brian |

I had an awesome time, as always.
I busted up my truck, but it was minor and fixed. I drove it home. It went a little something like this...I got a little aggressive on a set of hills that are in that area before test hill to the right of the entrance and caught some wicked air. I realized I was getting a bit wild and toned it down for my next run up test hill. Coming down off of test hill I saw the next hill that looked a little steep and soft, so I gave it a little speed to make sure to get up it. At the trough there was a bit of a drop that I couldn't see just before it turned up again and I hit that HARD with the front end and dug it in. So hard it stopped me dead and popped the light covers off and ejected my turn signals. The truck was running and no outward damage, so I picked up the parts, put them back on and drove off for a while. I thought the Trans4mer took the brunt of it, but somehow it bent the core support and the bracket for the oil filter back too. This caused the oil lines from the filter to rub on the bottom pulley. I drove around for a while with no problems. Meanwhile the pulley was slowly sawing its way through my oil line. I looped all the way down to the last hill and doubled back to the beach near the sand drag area. That was flooded, so I was going through all the water pretty slowly. As we were going to line up for the photo it cut through and spewed oil everywhere in my engine bay and all over the ground. Since the car was wet, I noticed the water was waaay to black and I saw the rainbow on my flares. I shut it down immediately and didn't move it at all. Hence why I missed the group photo. I lost more than 3 quarts of oil in that time. Knaffle towed me back to the lot, and it parked the rest of the day. Josh towed me back to the campground that evening. Kevin was heading back to Holland to drop off his dead truck and get Libby's car, so I gave him my card to get the lines at Advance Auto and he picked them up. Thanks Kevin! The next morning I wasn't eager to get started so I went out to breakfast with Knaffle, Kevin, Steve...and so on. We had a leisurely breakfast. While I was gone, Sean was back at the campsite replacing my lines for me. I was surprised as hell when I came back and it was fixed without me turning a wench! MEGA THANKS SEAN I think this was the ZR2's last trip to the dunes, so it was fitting that I finally broke something. Fortunately I think I found my next new toy. Allen's Baja Bug was insanely fun. I should totally buy one of those...LOL Thanks to Allen for handing me the keys to the Bug... Jeff, I'm never going to forgive you for giving me a heart attack. LOL
Yeah that was great. I had American Jeff go up to Fitz when he got back from breakfast. He tells him that shawn started to fix his oil lines but then discoverd that there was a hole in the oil pan and he is screwed! It was so funny. |

MEGA THANKS SEAN Not a problem at all man! I would do it for any of you guys. I figure that's what I do for a living so I'm well qualified and can get it done quickly and easily. I think this was the ZR2's last trip to the dunes, so it was fitting that I finally broke something. Fortunately I think I found my next new toy. Allen's Baja Bug was insanely fun. I should totally buy one of those...LOL I have a 74' I'm building into a Baja Bug in the garage right now. It still has a ways to go. I have a 63' in my other garage that has yet to be started. I wanted to make a matching pair with one for the street, and one for the dunes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rockon.gif) |

I'm uploading some video's now to youtube, first vid is showing 20 minutes remaining, got 6 more to upload (IMG:style_emoticons/default/jester.gif)
Jeff (Canadian), the camera is the GoPro Motorsport Hero. Holds a 2gig SD card, will capture 1 hour of video or 1000+ pics. click HERE for more info. The new camera is 135 degree wide angle, the one I have is the standard angle lens. I have no major complaints with it though, I beat the hell out of it and it keeps shooting. The biggest issue I have is battery life and lack of external mic. It still picks up audio well for being in a waterproof case though. This post has been edited by ShawnM.: Jun 17 2009, 08:22 PM |

Didn't Jeff (American) or Tony get video of my submarine expeditions on the beach? I didn't see them on the dvd, but they insisted I drive back through the sippy hole to get it on video. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idunno.gif)
I don't mean the one of me in the pond either. That was shallow. This post has been edited by Truckin1999: Jun 17 2009, 08:32 PM |

I wish someone would have got my submarine attempt also, but quite frankly, I wasn't paying attention and had no idea that hole was going to swallow my jeep. Thankfully, I got out the other side without sucking in any water. I did have water coming in through the floor heater vents, which was somewhat interesting! |
