Electrical

Anything to do with the electrical system, including lighting and not including audio.

Engine

Post questions, comments and answers to any ZR2 engine related matter. It's a 262cubic in 4.3 liter V6. It's rated at 190hp or so. Don't forget that your local "Autozone" will read your SES code for FREE. Find out here what they mean and what you need to do about it...

Drivetrain

Here we discusss the transmission; transfer case; driveshafts; rear end (on the trucks, that is); etc.

Suspension/steering

Shocks; torsion bars; ball joints; leaf springs; CV joints; idler arms; etc. It's all inside.

Exhaust

Talk about the ZR2 exhaust system including the catalytic converter, muffler, etc. See what the popular aftermarket products for our trucks are.

Fuel system

This forum is a GAS. How's your milage? Change your fuel filter lately? Oh- that noise you hear when your truck is running is normal: it's just the submersible fuel pump. When you don't hear it is when you need to worry...

Wheels

The round metal things that your tires are attached to. Stock ZR2 wheels are called "PA3's" or "N90's" and the size is 15 x 7 with 6in. of back space on a 5x4.75 bolt pattern. Not sure what "back spacing" is?? Well you better find out before you get aftermarket wheels!!

Tires

Those 4 round, rubber thingies that make your Z roll. There should also be a 5th one somewhere in your ZR2 with adequate air pressure. Stock size is 31/10.5/15.

Body

Paint; hoods; beds; flares; glass; fenders; etc.

Interior

Seats; carpet; dash; gauges; etc. Everything inside your ZR2 except you and your tunes.

Audio

Stereo systems. CB's. Alarms.
PUMP up the volume. BREAKER one-nine. STEP AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE NOW!! You get the idea...

Brakes

Give us a BRAKE! 94-97 had rear drums and 98+ had 4 wheel disk with dual piston front calipers.

Repair Shops, Tools, and Equipment

This is for posting about repair shops (including dealerships): to recommend one, or maybe to NOT recommend one. Tell us your repair shop experience here. Same goes for tools, hand, or power. Talk about different brands, specific applications and specialty tools and your recommendations.

Towing

Talk about the TOW rating of your ZR2, as well as tow vehicles, trailers, etc.

Ask Mr. Mike: GM Engineer

You may already know Mike. He built the baddest ZR2 that has ever roamed this earth. He drove his ZR2 in Petersen's 4-wheel/Off-Road "Ultimate Adventure" in 2003 and impressed a lot of people with an IFS S10. A "wealth of knowledge", but also an extremely busy man these days. Ask him any specific ZR2 question you may have that you don't feel could be answered elsewhere in the forum. Please be precise. Please be patient. His professional and experienced answers are well worth it. Be sure to visit his website before you leave!

Lift kits
