I believe that is the replacement model for the one I am using.

Personally, I will not waste time on the $26 mechanical units again. I have had two of those fail. I don't need a third strike.
X2 on what Brule is thinking here. Our set ups are identical and I can report zero problems with 4K mile trips with the set up.

With an order of 6 lights, Josh will hook you up with some class act wiring.
Don't be afraid to call him up or email him anytime for assistance. He is a class act. Don't depend on the self tapping screws to be self tapping. Drill smaller pilot holes for them. He has a smaller cheaper version which are prety good in themselves.

We did have a good time on our annual New Years Day ride. The Z was trailered today but, He has driven it a few hundred miles to and from Badlands for the "Toys for Tots" Charity.

I was told once that I would never get a photo of a S-10 recovering a heep. Well, today I captured a photo of the event. The ZR2's frame has been shortened and the bed cut to approximately the length of a crew cab's bed. Permanent winches are mounted front and rear. Front and rear axles are D44s. The heep snapped a front D30 axle and then let his winch rope out to far where it came off of the drum.

I once recovered a CJ but, the wife blew the pic.

Chris,

That link that I provided for the dimensions worries me as to how long it will last. I am still running XP and could not locate a way to save the file. I did print the diagram and scanned it as a photo and saved it. How did you save that entire PDF file?

TIA,

Reed

BTW, those MTs are killers once broken in!

Here is that link again. OK, here is the PDF file.

Merely based upon the fact that 1350s are larger than 1330s, I am guessing that 1330s are stronger than 1310s. JMO

Please correct me if, I am wrong but, a non ZR2 S-10 owner is in a bind and needs an answer quickly. There is no difference in the rear axle width between Blazers and PUs, correct?

HenryJ's stuff is proven, witnessed and has a stamp of approval. Gonna be a tad difficult for many here to meet those standards. 50-60 miles from a "cell phone signal", his lighting is reassuring!

Is this assuming that you have not taken the time to check the bearings correctly?

Perform the check and let's see the results posted. We can eliminate the bearing assembly if, you have zero movement.

QUOTE (steelruger22 @ Apr 14 2009, 04:51 PM) *
Your right, it's the passenger side. By turning left it loads the weight of the vehicle on the right side. This applies the load to the right side bearing, if its bad the noise shouldn't change or it will get worst. Turning right loads the drivers side and releases the weight and pressure on those bearings that are making noise and going bad, letting them go slack to an extent which will inturn cause then to go quiet. Its a pretty easy way to tell which side is bad. When they get real bad they will auctally grind/ lowd drown when they are loaded.
In summary
turn right and noise goes away, right side is bad
turn left and noise goes away, left side is bad
has to be done at speed when bearing is making noise.
The side that you replace will not be the correct one! It almost never fails. Simple Murphy's Law on wrenching! Replace them both at the same time unless finances prohibit it. Then replace one and if, the problem is still there, then swap sides out.

An alternative would be to replace the side that you really think is bad and at the last moment, change your mind and put it in the other side. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

OR...............jack up both sides and check for any movement whatsoever while moving the tire at the 12 and 6 O'clock positions. If, one is going out, the other is soon to follow.

In any event invest in a can of Antiseize and coat all fasteners and mating surfaces of the bearing assembly.

(IMG:http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41kYL5xp5BL._SL500_AA280_.jpg)

It will make life easier on the next go around or trail repair.

What is the angle of your TC output shaft? What is the angle of your rear pinion? The DS angle figure is not really applicable just yet. Do you have a $10 magnetic angle finder?

(IMG:http://pinballmagic.com/images/inclinometer.jpg)

Here is one of a thousand write ups on the subject.

Pinion angles.

I would check them out before you start replacing parts. Jack the truck up so the front end is all the way off the ground. Grab the tire at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and attempt to wobble the tire. If you have movement they should be replaced.
Better advice! Simple check to perform.

probably if it ever worked right you might of noticed something? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idunno.gif) Sounds like you got defective ones I guess. I was thinking of going with a different brand myself anyways.
Perhaps it was defective but, when they fail you can bypass the unit with their set up connections. The rig is a "no go" in my case until the MSD is bypassed. If, you follow the Crew Cab link it appears that at least one other member agreed that it was a waste of money. $250 goes a long way towards saving up for other mods in my opinion.

I have not had anything dynoed but, my MSD 6AL didn't give me anything. I did not see, feel or observe any improvement whatsover after my install. It failed 2Xs now and I need to yank it. Their customer support via their tech forum is first class!

I listed my MSD 6AL mod as one of My worse or most regrettable mods on S10CrewCab.com. Might work sweet on Steves's LT1 SS but, was a POS on my 4.3!
